The MarineFlux project developed a web-based data service that stores and serves ship-based direct fluxes and estimated bulk fluxes. Early in the development process, the MarineFlux team circulated a survey to the air-sea flux user community. The goal of this survey was to determine requirements of the air-sea flux community when accessing, downloading, and/or using in-situ marine flux observations. The team sought community guidance to set priorities for parameters and associated metadata to be included in the MarineFlux data services. We anticipated that requirements would be different for various applications of marine air-sea fluxes, so we asked respondents to provide information regarding their specific flux applications.
The survey was at least partially completed by 32 participants and the summarized results are provided in the MarineFluxSurveyResults document.
